Oleajes eléctricos is an installation project that connects electroacoustic feedback with ocean waves, conceiving feedback as an electroacoustic signal wave that flows and unfolds through and by itself. In this analogy, I draw a parallel between the self-generated electrical signal that travels through space and ocean waves, which reflect upon themselves through the flow of water, creating the wave patterns that break on the shore, mesmerizing in their repetition and energy.
Some key points of connection in this analogy include cyclicality, energy and movement, transformation and evolution, as well as the layered textures of both systems.
The installation is self-generated through amplified strings that are stimulated by the electromechanical motion of transducers, producing tones and resonances that travel through the space in dialogue with the architecture of each site.
This project was developed during an art, science, and technology residency at Tabakalera in 2023, and remains in progress to further expand its possibilities.
