Installative performance at Un Espacio, Barrio Independencia, Santiago de Chile (2022)
A point is a particle in the present.
A line, a succession of points.
A line is drawn through time.
Time generates sound.
What is alive produces sound.
Tensions are lines drawn, and sound, the affect they provoke.
Space is a container of affects.
Space, a sonic dwelling that harbors tension and resonance.
Affects may be harmonious, dissonant, discordant, thunderous, or take on countless other forms. Space renders them audible, present, and we are sensitive to them.
To tension, to trigger, to modulate: to sculpt sound in real time.
Tensions is an installative performance in which acoustic feedback between a transducer and contact microphones generates modulated sounds shaped by the body and the tension of 20-meter-long threads. The architecture of the space itself interacts with the vibrations of the strings, acting as a resonant chamber to house those sounds.
This sonic action was developed in collaboration with Carla Bolgeri, from the duo Bolgeri & Marín.
